How to serve children well

As an educator, I want to serve children well. What does this mean?

An engaging program
My colleagues and I spend a lot of time crafting an engaging student-centered program. We are committed to this work and delight in the positive, active learning that results.

Personal attention
We strive to pay attention to every child in ways that matter from a morning hello to thoughtful coaching related to all kinds of academic and social-emotional issues.

Response
Children want to be heard, seen, cared for, and challenged. It's important that we acknowledge their efforts, respond to their good work, and answer their questions.

Problem Solving
When children need help, they ask for it. Sometimes their requests are not clearly relayed, but instead come disguised in acting out, but however their needs are expressed, it's up to us to try to help them solve the problems they face and get them the help they need.

Fun, laughter, joy
Childhood should be a time of fun, laughter, and joy. It's important that there's plenty of time for play, happiness, laughter, and joy.
