Rather than springing ahead it's likely that students will be a bit sluggish due to the weekend's daylight savings time change. Teachers may feel a bit lethargic as well at the start of the day. This is when you're happy that we're starting the day with an all school assembly which provides time for the children of the school to gather for a number of inspiring presentations and predictable rituals. It's our class's time to stack the chairs. Then we'll likely have a recess, time for math and good teaching and learning ahead including typical rotations, lit mix, and gym which students almost always look forward too.
My professional work starts with an extra early start to prep my computer for it's systemwide check-up and then to host a couple more student-led family/teacher conferences. Later in the day there's reading prep and a personal appointment.
The week's goal is to engage in a good balanced positive schedule of teaching, learning, and living. It seems we'll end the week with some warm sunshine which will be a welcome change and good weather to attend a learning event that's an hour or so away.
As educators, learners, and those wishing to live good lives, we have to positively coach ourselves forward day after day--the more we engage in this kind of positive speak, coaching, and the good activity that goes along with that, the better we'll live. Onward.
