Seek Acts of Truths and Greatness in Times of Despair and Worry

This human chain was an amazing story of truth and greatness

Throughout the world acts of truth and greatness are happening all the time. Sometimes these acts are small and local and other times these acts are great and international. There's a continuum when it comes to acts of truth and greatness, and it's difficult to quantify these acts because something seemingly small may turn out to be the act that has the most impact in the long run.

What matters is that these acts happen, and during this time of despair with regard to our disrespectful President, it's time to more than ever be on the look out for acts of truth and greatness.

These acts are not acts of marketing--the kinds of acts where most of the shine is in the news reporting, slick brochures, and hype, but instead true acts of kindness, empathy, sacrifice, care, and generosity. These acts are not covered so often in the news as they are not as alarming as scary, frightening events, but these acts are important to notice, read about, and share with one another.

As I think about this, I recognize that one way that I can counter the sadness, worry, and despair of Trump Times is to try to read at least one article a day about acts of great courage, kindness, empathy, compassion, sacrifice, and care. In particular, I want to read about these acts through multiple cultures and places around the Earth as one way to dispel the horrible prejudice so emphasized by our current President.

Where do you witness acts of truth and greatness each day?

Where do you find these stories online and off?

How do you share this good news with one another, and how do you embed the lessons and strength of this good news into your own work?

Yesterday, I was moved as I witnessed an act of truth and greatness as I watched and listened to President Obama's moving eulogy for Reverend Clementa Pinckney from 2015. In the days ahead, I'll be on the lookout for more acts of truth and greatness. I welcome you to share these authentic, beautiful acts big and small. I look forward to the share.
