Students are persevering as they study for a system-wide grade level test.
I debated this level of depth and perseverance, and decided to go with it at this time.
The children are bright and capable, and doing well on the test will result in greater confidence about their abilities. Also, they'll see the connection between good studying and accomplishing an academic goal.
It's not the most exciting study time, but this practice and review will result in greater fluency, and in turn, the greater fluency will lead to a better ability to grasp new concepts and complete more interesting and complex math projects later on.
