Focused Effort: Classroom-Centric

It's that time of the year when you have to dig deep and work hard.

It's the best learning time of the year--the weather is cold, the days are short, and there's not the temptation to play outside all afternoon.

I want to maximize this cold, dark time with regard to student learning and classroom community.

As always, there's the temptation to hibernate, but resisting that call empowers us to serve children well.

Sticking to a healthy, productive routine moves us in that direction. The routine has the following components:

  • Morning read, write, think.
  • Plans and prep
  • Focus on teaching children well, students are center-stage.
  • Daily collegial interaction, collaboration.
  • After-school family time, interests, professional learning, fun!
It's a time of classroom-centric focus and work. Onward!
