Virtual Teaching and Learning: Prepping for Week Seven

This is an example of our weekly newsletter.
Our virtual teaching and learning leg of the school year is taking on a positive routine that includes the following efforts.

Thursday Newsletter Distribution
Each Thursday we distribute our newsletter. Each week we place our newsletter on a Google Presentation slide that is posted on our TeamFive website. What's nice about this process is that we essentially create a slideshow of the year's efforts with week-to-week reporting.

Friday Learning Menu Update
On Friday afternoons, I update the learning menu for the week ahead. That gives families a chance to help children plan ahead to attend whole class and small group learning meetings as well as complete the assigned tasks.

Weekend Biography Project Review
Over the weekend, I'll set aside time to review my small biography research group's efforts related to the Global Changemaker project. That will prepare me for our Monday morning research meetings at 10 and the whole class biography project meetings on Monday at 11.

Monday - Friday Teaching Routine
Monday through Friday, the days are taking on a routine of morning research, reading, and reflection, school hours virtual teaching, teaching/learning team review/response, collegial meetings,  curriculum prep, and needed paperwork related to this school year and prep for the next school year.

School Committee Meeting
I've been watching the school committee meetings online which has been a good resource for this virtual teaching/learning work.

Having a good routine like this adds structure to these new expectations and teaching times which is positive. My goal is to positively stick to this routine for the next 7.5 weeks of the school year. Onward.
