This winter has been a bit rocky in school due to snow days, days off due to unexpected power lines problems, and sickness. Many students have been out since December, and now I'm down with one of the illnesses that are being spread around--probably strep. I'll find out at the doctor today. We've also had a number of bad weather days which means less play and more indoor recess. This rocky terrain takes a toll on the consistency of learning and programs. But it's what we expect in New England--we never really know what a winter will bring. Some winters are light like last year, and others are filled with snow like two years ago when the playground was covered with lots of snow from November to April. We just have to go with it and make the most of the weather and unexpected interruptions that we can.
It's winters like these that remind you to wash your hands often, plan ahead, and be ready to help one another when needed.
