No Room for Disrespect
If you've been treated with disrespect, it's difficult to unwind time and rid yourself of that kind of think and action. Disrespect begets disrespect. If we look around, the most respectful people we know are those that come from respectful, kind, and loving environments. Respect begets respect. The disrespect at the national level of government is a troubling problem in the United States. Whether an idea is good or bad, it's difficult to discern through the thick of layer of disrespect it comes with. This is a good lesson to all of us. As much as possible we have to move forward with respect, honest respect not the kind that's just superficial, but instead authentic, true respect, the kinds that focuses on the promise of the problem with strength and uses good process and collaboration with the people involved. This is easier for some of us than others, but we have to continue to navigate in this direction.
