A week that started with a bit of an illness and a weather event that cancelled school for two days, ended with calm. All in all, it was a bit of a challenging week on the administrative side of school, but a good teaching/learning week that included a successful field trip, worthwhile math learning, buddy time and a close look at Lin-Manuel Miranda's life and the play, In the Heights.
The result of the tough administrative side of things was to gain greater clarity and to make more time during the teaching/learning day for administrative tasks that have to be done during the school time. For me, the curriculum and students typically take priority, but this week taught me that I have to make the time for the substantial paperwork teachers need to do. Of course I wish that work was streamlined more, but that's not for me to manage or lead at this time.
Next week will bring some detailed work related to math unit two, open circle, reading with my small RTI group, and some science prep. Tomorrow's MTA's Just for New Teachers Conference will likely serve to inspire the good teaching ahead. Onward.
