We've noticed that if we tie math concepts to story, students learn and remember better.
Hence, I told students a story about my father's 87th birthday party as I introduced a large number of fraction concepts, algorithms, and models.
In the coming weeks, students will edit my story draft and then they'll create their own stories using paper/pencil. Google slides, video, comic book/graphic novel, or other medium that they choose.
I think this will be a rich project, one that will enlist students' creativity and ability to construct meaning as they learn about fraction operations, concept, and skill.
I welcome your thoughts.
