Recently it was brought up that if parents paid school fees online, it would give teachers more time for teaching rather than spending multiple hours collecting and completing the paperwork related to field trips and special events. It's a onerous process to collect and process lots of student checks--a process that takes lots of time on top of teachers' need to plan and prepare lessons. For many educators, there's typically less than one hour during the school day to do all of this work.
With today's technological advances, it seems like it wouldn't take too much effort to put field trip payments online. Does your school do this? If so, how? What did it take to make this change? I appreciate any ideas you're willing to share.
