As a large number of expectations pour in, I have to remind myself that no educator is superhuman--we too are people with limitations of time and energy. We can't be all people and meet all expectations directed our way.
How does one respond to what may seem like an unrealistic load?
First, prioritize. What's most important?
For me that's the daily care/teaching of students/family members.
Next, gain clarity. What specifically is expected?
Ask for clarity with regard to expectations--what exactly is expected.
After that, reset the schedule and routine.
Make a plan as to how to meet the obligations. Shift schedules and time to meet the expectations.
None of us are superhuman, but all of us can reset the schedule and routine to meet our most important priorities. Onward.
