Love Thy Enemies

We all have enemies.

And reaching out to love and care for our enemies is a tough and formidable challenge.

Yet when we reach the point of recognizing our enemies as similarly caught in the web of time as we are, it's much easier to be forgiving, loving, and kind.

Often we are as much an opponent to our enemies as they are to us.

With the best lens, our enemies are there to move us forward by sandpapering our weaknesses and flaws making us a better version of ourselves.

Imperfect as each of us is, it's essential that we work to embrace our enemies and as Nelson Mandela suggested make them our friends and allies.

To me this is one of the most challenging tasks that life asks of us, but a task not without merit or great gain.

I for one am tired of having enemies and will seek to use my own advice and the advice of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., and many others who have given us wisdom in this regard.

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend."

- Martin Luther King, Jr.
