Summer: Catching Up On Life

Once the school year gets rolling, it's difficult to find time for anything but the most important aspects of life. That's why summer is so important--it's a time to catch up on life by seeing doctors, organizing your home, spending extra time with loved ones, exploring new places, and studying/researching for the year ahead.

As I continue the summer journey, next week is time to focus in on some important routines and research. Next year I'll go deep with math education and I have a few good books to read in that regard. I also want to enrich our naturalist and STEAM study which is as much physical as cerebral so it's important to get in shape to keep up with many active, energetic fifth grade inventors, scientists, and naturalists.

There's also the need to keep it simple at home with the adage, "less things, more time." There's still some purging to do to simplify my home to the way I'd like it to be. We've got a number of left over items from the "baby/little kid" stage of life that we don't need anymore--items that we'll direct to the local swap shop.

And people of course, those people in your life that you don't get to see that often during the busy school year--summer is a good time to catch up with those loved ones.

In a sense, it's another turn in the road for this educator as I go deeper with specific directions, and it's time to set the stage for that journey forward. Onward.
