Inspiration and the Long View

Can an organization grow without inspiration and the long view?

Can an organization thrive when people don't know where we are going or why we are going there?

Is it possible for members of an organization to clearly understand the direction and effort of their work without vision and direction?

A recent discussion finds me reaching back to re-read the mission of the organization I work for:
These are very good goals, mission, and vision--one I'll continue to include in learning design for current work, inspiration, and the long view.
