Maker Math: Learning by Creating and Constructing

We've been building and creating in math.

Students are composing digital math story problems to share with the school.

They've turned nets into 3D solid figures.

Tomorrow they'll make their own foot-long and decimeter rulers with color coded fractional parts.

After that we'll likely create some 100 percent images and chart the fraction, decimals, and percents.

We'll play with 360 degrees for a bit and use venn diagrams to discuss common multiples and factors too.

I'd like to find the time to have student SCRATCH some math animated models too.

Math is lots of fun when we're looking for patterns, solving problems, and learning concepts by making, and I want to do as much as this as we can.
