Tough love is outdated.
Positivity and encouragement are the way to go.
To demean, discourage, berate, ridicule, or push too much doesn't do a learner any good.
Coaching with care, compassion, understanding, and explicit directions, goals, and step-by-step encouragement is the best direction to take when teaching well.
