I met with an individual today who apologized for not being able to meet again soon due to the fact that she took a new job.
I responded, "No need to apologize," as I knew this person was ripe for a new opportunity--she has a lot to offer in her field.
Taking new jobs and/or hiring new people sparks the question, "Are you the right person for the job?" What jobs are we and others well suited for and which jobs are better left for another person? Hiring individuals not well suited for a job is not only a problem for the people that individual works with or leads, but it's also a problem for that person too as it often puts the person in a tragic spot. Similarly taking a job that you're not well suited for creates similar challenge and difficulty.
What's important is to find the job that matches you or find the person that matches the job. It's unlikely that you'll find the perfect match, but a good fit is important and has the potential to lead towards terrific success.
