The learning community needs a boost.
They're tired, cranky, and disconnected. I'm blaming our choppy test-prep, get-it-all-in before the test culture of the past few weeks and the long, cold winter.
Now, however, the weather is warmer, the first round of standardized tests will be done after today, and vacation is only a couple of weeks away.
So this is a great time to revisit our Learning to Learn curriculum and engage in some important community building activities.
We started this yesterday by cleaning out desks and folders.
We'll also start the transition to middle school by adding a study one to two times a week so students can practice that middle school structure.
Today we'll focus on the role of communication in community building and teaching/learning success.
Students are always sending you messages about what they need, and it's nice to know that I have the time and support to respond to their need.
