The weekend tends to be a time of big ideas while the week typically finds me busy with the details of teaching fourth graders well.
This week we'll continue to strengthen fraction, problem solving, and geometry math skills. We'll also work to finish our class book, Out of the Deep, and attend the performance of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Students will be excited about the upcoming holiday so we'll match that enthusiasm with a more structured class approach which works well when children are anticipating and preparing for a big event.
Our 1,000-minute Khan incentive will continue as well. Students altogether are approaching the 10,000 minutes mark which is awesome since the incentive started only eleven days ago. I'll also provide an optional Khan vacation menu for students who want to practice over the holiday. And, we'll continue our emphasis on positive actions for learning including active learning, asking questions, "I can do it" attitude, and practice.
It will be a great week of learning!
