So as I note this confusion, I need to set my course yet again.
What will the days ahead bring as I teach this year and prepare for the next.
This is the roadmap I'll follow:
- Focused attention on my class philosophy and work.
- Efforts to meet all standards in worthy ways, and to build the end-of-the-year project base learning focus/work.
- Completion of this year's PD efforts including Retell, NBPTS, UClass, and possibly an NEH Seminar.
- Refining and developing classroom units, websites, communication system, and the learning environment for school year 2014-2015
- Time for focused attention to other, more personal areas of life--areas that support the work I can do as an educator.
- Attention to next year's professional goals: High Impact Instruction and Employing the Standards for Mathematical Practice with Attention to Mathematical Problem Solving and Use of Models.
- Less presentation, more focused attention on classroom/collaborative work, and continued writing.
- Next year's target conferences: Educon 2.7, ISTE 2015 Philadelphia
Establishing the road map will help me to say yea or nay to opportunities, invitation, and possibilities that come my way in the coming weeks and months. Yes, there will be many shifts along the way, but it's helpful to have a plan.
What does your road map look like? What takes priority, and what is your ultimate aim? Good questions for a snowy day in February.
