Preparing for the Global Cardboard Challenge Project 2015

Students will likely play one or more these STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math)
roles during the Global Cardboard Challenge project.
Yesterday, at the start of a very hot and humid second day of school, our team showed students the first Caines's Arcade film (see link on slide show below). As we expected, the film inspired students' enthusiasm and ideas for our upcoming Global Cardboard Challenge Create and Arcade Days.

With knowledge from last year's Global Cardboard Challenge and experience with ten and eleven-year-old creators, I put together a draft design packet that will lead students through the steps of whether to work as a team or on their own, choosing an idea, sketching the ideas, listing supplies, and creating game rules. I'll work with the teaching team to solidify the packet as collaboration will serve this project well.

We'll likely enlist family and community help too as we bring this project to fruition in the coming weeks. It's great to start the school year with a project like this that builds team, creativity, and enthusiasm. Onward.
