Sometimes we imagine how an event will occur, and then it doesn't happen that way at all. That's disappointing.
Often when that happens, we can quickly change our point of view and find the silver lining in the change, and sometimes the event's unexpected results are actually better than what we expected in the first place.
Yet there will be times when it will be difficult to accept the unexpected changes, and that will mean some good, dedicated decision making as to how to meet the new situation and change.
While much of life is quite predictable, there will be times that are not predictable.
There will also be times when we hope for change, but that change never happens. We may fool ourselves thinking that things will magically change, but the situation doesn't change. That's when we have to realize what has been happening, will happen, and change is unlikely to occur. This is when acceptance of the status quo is important and learning how to live with that status quo.
Living with the status quo may be most difficult for dreamers and optimists. We like to work for betterment and positive change. I remember years ago when I accepted a situation that was not going to change--I did everything in my power to make change in the situation with little success. Then I simply accepted that change in that arena was out of my control--I didn't have what the situation required for what I thought to be good change. I stepped away and engaged in other, more promising endeavor and investments. I don't regret stepping away especially since I tried every other avenue to make good change before that.
Disappointment will happen. Life doesn't always unravel in ways we expect it to. Most often we can flexibly understand situations like this, but sometimes we simply have to accept the fact that those situations don't make sense and step away from situations like that.
