Fifth graders end the school year with a Fun Day. It's a day of play and choice at a location with lots of options. Students may draw, color, make slime, dance, sing, sign Memory Books, read, play sports, hang out, and talk with each other or with teachers who are there. I think this is a perfect way to end a good year of teaching and learning.
We'll walk to the Fun Place where teachers have delivered all kinds of sports toys. Students will bring their lunches and a snack. Later we'll return to school for a slideshow of the students' elementary years and the traditional clap-out. For this teacher what's most important is to bring good energy, and open ear, and will to serve the students. Onward.
