A Hot Day: Teaching Well

Everyone is talking about the high humidity and temperatures that will be the mainstay today as I teach in a relatively small classroom with 25 students. It's hard to believe this will be true as a cool breeze is entering my den right now and the temperature at this early hour is cozy and comfortable.

To combat this heat, we'll have a very low key day. We'll start with some math practice and then attend school assembly. After that will be recess and I'll offer in or out choices which will relax students. Then the whole grade level will meet to learn about rivers and wetlands, and after that is lunch.

Following lunch, students will work on their river packets in places where they like to work. Then they'll attend music and quietly read, draw, or continue to work on their river packets as I attend a teacher meeting. Onward.
