Arthur Unobskey, the new superintendent of schools where I teach, shared an entry report that includes an analysis related to recent focus group meetings, conversations, surveys, observation, and study about the school system where I work. The holistic lens and multiple areas of success and potential development included in the report provide me with a good resource with which to evaluate my own efforts and determine how my work connects to the work and potential of the entire system.
I really like the transparency with which the report was shared as it creates the potential that the report will be a conversation piece as well as a catalyst for continued improvement for all stakeholders in the system including students, family members, residents, educators, and administrators. I was particularly inspired by the final paragraph, a paragraph that uses a reference from Walter's Isaacson's biography of Leonardo Da Vinci to make the point that "We want our children to engage passionately in their “evolution,." I also found great inspiration in an earlier focus in the report on how we would like students to learn. This focus is one that I think can be further used in conjunction to how educators learn, progress and collaborate too:
I am inspired by this report and the potential it holds for greater voice, choice, and leadership amongst all stakeholders in the system where I work. I believe the report creates an opportunity for all of us to elevate our professional efforts and impact.
