Students created fraction bars using Google table. Today some folded grid paper to make multiple fraction bar models and tomorrow they'll use
fraction grid bars to calculate and create multiple fraction bars. As I watch them explore the bars, I'm wondering which approach helps them to gain the best foundation for fractions. Later we'll match the bars with cuisenaire rods to explore the values better as we think about adding and subtraction fractions. Creating models and visualizing the "behavior" of fractions will helps students a lot as we get closer to studying the traditional procedures related to fraction operations.
