There's an old adage: "people don't change."
I disagree.
Some people do change.
When we treat people with the belief that "people don't change" we do not give them the chance to grow or become who they want or need to be.
In my life, some people have changed dramatically--they are not the people they were when I first met them. Through lots of hard work, study, and life experience they've been able to develop into the people they always wanted to be. It's amazing to see.
So as we move forward with dignity, care, and good teaching, we have to bury that old adage and recognize that people do change and develop, and we can support that process with kind, strategic, thoughtful coaching and care.
