Should PARCC tests be timed?
Is speed important?
I think that if people think speed is important there should be two sets of scores--the speed score and the proficiency score.
I think students should have the time they need to complete the test with precision and care.
There is definitely times when speed is important and there is time when speed is not important.
Let's go for a score for each, but not limit students who are bright and work slowly from passing the test.
Do you agree?
Note: Last year, after this post was written, students took the PARCC tests. Time was not a big issue as it seemed like almost everyone had plenty of time to complete each test.
