Teach Well: Be Present

The plans are set, the room is prepared. Today it is important to be present as students create, create, create during the Global Cardboard Challenge, sing along with our talented teaching assistant, engage with school assembly, and organize their learning area.

To be present at school means the following actions:
  • Observe. What are students doing? What do they need?
  • Respond. Be available to answer questions, provide supplies, problem solve, encourage.
  • Make Notes. For future learning--what's needed, what's working.
There's the temptation in school life to lead, lead, lead, but sometimes the best work we can do is step back to watch, encourage, and respond. That's today's main charge.
