I'm using our study of George Washington Carver as a vehicle to also learn about the advantage of using multiple resources to learn.
First we'll read four or five different picture books about Carver.
We'll look for and analyze a few primary sources.
We'll also take a look at reference sites such as online encyclopedias, dictionaries, wikipedia, and more.
We'll watch videos and analyze quotes too.
And we'll write and reflect.
As we read and/or watch each resource, we'll discuss the value of that resource. What did we learn? How did that resource help us learn that information? What was the advantage of the resource in comparison to other resources? What is the advantage in general of using multiple resources?
Our STEAM Star Study will not only serve to teach children about the STEAM mentors and leaders we can turn to for inspiration, but this study will also teach us about how to research and how to make good use of multiple resources as we study and learn.
