Many popular chats are so busy that it's difficult to follow, yet those chats offer numerous ideas, connections, and resources.
With the standards-based math program as my charge, I was looking for a more intimate chat for fifth grade math teachers, coaches, and others who are interested in teaching 5th grade math so I proposed #mathchat5--a chat with a tighter focus than most.
Tonight was the first night, and several retweeted the invitation (thanks @danieldmccabe @JennaR @judeobsc17 )
The chat was a conversation about fact fluency, models, and math resources with Julie Lowerre @julielowerre and myself which resulted in a nice share of resources.
Next week, I'll host #mathchat5 again with a focus on The Standards of Mathematical Practice (SMPs). Please join #mathchat5 if you're interested in sharing ideas about teaching 5th grade math. I hope this chat will serve as a support and share vehicle for fifth grade teachers. Thanks for your interest.
Whether you're a fifth grade teacher, a math enthusiast, specialist, coach, or parent, if you're interested in the Standards of Mathematical Practice please join us next Wednesday from 8pmEST to 9 to share and learn.
