Tomorrow we'll continue to explore numerical expression.
As we explore, children will realize that they can use numerical expression to describe life events, routines, and the way they spend their time.
First, we'll review last week's numerical expression work. K will share his PEMDAS "sight-bite."
Then, we'll create, examine, interpret, and evaluate expressions, inequalities, and equations.
We'll continually review the mathematical language as we complete the work together.
This worksheet will guide our discussion. The use of real-world data, numbers from the students' world, will help to foster investment, and demonstrate that math and numbers have meaning that go beyond calculation, vocabulary, and rules.
We may even have time to revisit the wonderful PEMDAS Flocabulary video again.
How do you lead students to mastery with numerical expression? What exercises, models, and other resources do you use? How do you make the learning relevant and meaningful? If you want to extend your learning and share, join us on Wednesday for #mathchat5 to discuss numerical expression and the related standards.
