Does vision have to be a solitary path?
Or does vision profit from a collaborative, collective focus?
Today as I think about vision, I long for more collaboration; yet since we all bring forth multiple perspectives, needs, expectations, and dreams it's often difficult to find those who want to pace the path in similar ways to you, people with similar questions, passion, and drive.
As I think about my students, I recognize that I want to work with them to create their vision and coach them towards that end. I want to be there with them so that their solitary paths have unique focus, but collective support. I want them to know that I honor their voice and vision, and I am there to help them move in that direction.
Vision doesn't have to be a solitary path, but sometimes the solitary direction is most efficient and purposeful as you move along, and at other times it's worth taking the time to find companions to pace the path with you, provide support, and critique your route.
