Uplifting Language

What kind of language uplifts us and moves us forward?

This changes from person to person.

Some prefer language that is positive, happy, and nice even if that language is not truthful or purposeful.

Some prefer language that deals with tough issues, but is used in kind ways that point to issues in vague ways.

Some prefer to cut right to the chase and blatantly tell their point of view.

Debate is welcome in some circles, while in other circles debate is frowned upon.

The way of discourse impacts a group substantially.

I am watching this, and noticing that those that speak with respect, truth, and efficiency seem to have the most impact.  These people take the care and time to know their audience well. They also make the time for reflection, research, and reading which impacts their speech.  Their words are carefully chosen, and their aim clear and thoughtful.  They don't skirt important issues, but they acknowledge the struggle tough issues can bring, and facilitate conversations skillfully.

We all know the wonderful communicators in our midst, young and old--we admire their skill, depth, intent, and speak.

They are leaders for us, and hopefully their impact will lead our own growth in that area.
