Reflection #30: Share Ideas

Although element 4D1 of The Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Rubric is titled "Decision Making," I think a better title would be "Idea Share." In organizations of old, ideas were often only welcome from leadership while those on the assembly line were relegated to carrying out the ideas. Today research supports transparency and idea share from all members in an organization. Companies like Toyota have profited from idea share and idea management systems. Those companies recognize that good ideas can come from all segments of an organization, and it's likely that those on the front line will see plausible ideas for more efficient, targeted systems--systems which are more cost-effective and client-friendly. The key to this process is to create fluid systems and protocols for idea share so that good ideas are encouraged, considered, and implemented to effect optimal student learning.
