It's go, go, go in the classroom as we complete culture projects, multiplication problems, math assessments and personal narrative share. Hence, it's time to specifically strategize and plan for the weeks after vacation.
Our focus will be "explain your thinking" in all areas of the curriculum.
We'll focus on close reading, written reading responses, opinion essays, division, math problem solving and area and perimeter. We'll also make lots of weekly time for Symphony and Lexia--two online programs that boost skill and stamina. Essentially it will be a period of focused attention to skills, strategies and stamina.
What will be my professional learning goals during this period?
First, I'll focus on greater targets and focus with regard to a differentiated schedule for student learning. During the February vacation, I'll focus on crafting that routine.
Next, I'm going to focus on communication with regards to our new systems of collaboration and tech integration--I'll be looking for ways to grow our collaborative practice with dynamic conversation and efforts to best meet students' needs in our changing educational landscape.
Finally, I'll specifically focus on strategies and efforts to help students grow their "explain it" skills using technology and other tools and strategies.
I like the fact that we have a week off coming up so that we have the time to make a thoughtful transition to the next layer of goals and emphases in the year's program.
