Busy School Spring

Spring is busy at schools everywhere. There's multiple factors that lead to this busyness including state tests, preparation for the next year, and multiple celebratory and closing efforts and actions. Unlike fall and winter, spring is not the best time to introduce new ideas or efforts, instead spring is a good time to synthesize the learning of the year in warm, positive, celebratory, and project-based ways.

As I think about this, I have to continually coach myself to focus on what matters most during this season:
  • A warm, welcoming classroom environment
  • Positive student coaching and support
  • Timely completion of needed paperwork and information
  • Room for last minute changes and needs that often spike in the busy spring months
To stay the course of positive work also means not getting swayed or impacted by unnecessary or disruptive efforts, efforts that work against the good work possible--the busyness of spring months in school can translate to those kinds of events too.

Being there and being ready to do the good work possible is a positive spring mantra. Less words, more action, and staying the course matters in these final months of the school year.
