Students returned from vacation eager to play, talk, and have fun. The day's agenda was a bit dry as I introduced the learning to come in the next few weeks. The students resisted the dry presentation as they yearned for greater play. I thought about this, and realized that with my eagerness to meet the many standards, the need for engaging study has been a bit lost.
So I got up in the early hours to consider the teaching to come, teaching that has wonderful potential to be engaging. Today, I'll reinvent the classroom to meet the needs of more engaging study, and we'll begin a few new enjoyable projects--projects that meet children's need for engagement. This should energize the new year of teaching and learning more than yesterday's dry start. Onward.
