Classroom Renovation, Organization, and Routine

Every class demands a bit different classroom organization.

With about a month in, I think I have a good set-up for TeamFive 2017-2018.

We've got the comfy read aloud, work together & quiet work areas, and the presentation space. There are areas for math tools, portfolios, STEAM supplies, books, and daily supplies. There's also a cabinet face set  up for all organization lists and news, and a nearby cabinet for forms and the daily schedule. Multiple spaces also exist for group work (when we rearrange the presentation space).

The important next step is to once again make sure that there's a "place for everything and everything in its place"--one goal I'm always chasing, and a goal I feel a bit closer to today.

We have a good routine going now too which helps a lot. Students are working hard to do the right thing, and I appreciate that. I see them coaching each other forward in this way. What's important is to keep this momentum going so we have a good class culture.

As we prepare for parent-student-teacher conferences in the coming weeks, students and I need to organize the good work they've done to date for inclusion in portfolios, work such as their recent STEAM report/images, learning stats stickers, writing samples, and general reflections.

More than reaching out right now, it's a time to reach in, work with the details, and shore up the terrific year that is emerging.
