Math Today: Focus Tools
Every child has a plastic bag filled with simple math tools including colored pencils, a pencil, a sharpie, tape, and perhaps a sharpener. At the front of the room we have rulers, scissors, and more tape. In nearby drawers and on shelves we have number cards, whiteboards, whiteboard grids, tiles, dice, protractors, compasses, and more. Today students will make some time to sharpen pencils and make sure they have a large array of sharpened colored pencils as we prepare for upcoming fraction study. Sometimes you have to make the time to organize supplies. Later they'll practice LCM and GCF skills, then make another math learning choice. It will be an organization-review-choice math study period, a good way to transition from one unit to the next. Onward.
