In school life, there are many issues that can take your attention away from the children and the work that serves them best. It's important to steer clear of those distractions and focus in on all matters that allow educators to do the good work possible. It's okay to be ambitious if your ambition feeds the mission of your work, but when ambition trumps mission, you've lost direction.
