Tonight at the university class students evaluated samples of students' math problem solving work using an SRSD rubric. The work samples demonstrated a large range of problem solving accuracy, process, and skill.
As students used the rubric, it was clear that the rubric was not explicit enough and needed improvement in order to guide students' efforts with clarity. I'll use students' ideas to rework the rubric.
The students' efforts in this regard as well as the many problem solving lessons and approaches I've seen continue to make me a fan of the long term depth, modeling, peer editing, and self evaluation related to the SRSD approach. In the weeks ahead I'll work with students as they hone their skills in this regard.
