Our special educators meet once a week. In a sense, it seems like a kind of special interest professional learning community since they all share the role of special educators.
I'm wondering if there's room in school for other kinds of special interest PLCs--groups of educators who meet to forward students' learning and experience of school in important ways.
What needs in your school are not met with strength and which students require greater care or focus? Is there a PLC that focuses on those students and/or needs? What would that PLC look like and how would there work be publicized and shared for the benefit of the entire learning community?
The PLC has been a powerful structure in our school. Over the past few years the process has developed with strength. Therefore, I'm thinking that this structure could be broadened to meet more needs. Do you agree?
