Architect Your Learning


















Inspired by a colleague's focus on scholarship and Tony Wagner's speech, A New Paradigm in Education, our grade-level team chose the theme, "Be the Architect of Your Own Learning" to build investment and direction for our fourth grade student/teacher learning year.

First we'll discuss the fact that words have history, then we'll specifically discuss the word, architect:

Then we'll begin with a conversation led by this this film.



After that students will craft statements.














Later in tech lab, each student will take a PhotoBooth image of himself/herself, then create an image with a blurb in Google draw like this example:


Finally the team will create an architecture-themed bulletin board of student photos and statements to remind us of our goals during the first leg of the new school year. Student blurbs will also be added to their offline and/or online writing books and portfolios.
