I watched a little girl dozing in a chair today, and I spied a boy just sitting there in a daze. I think my students are ready for a break--they're tired; they've been working hard for several weeks now and I'm so happy that next week they'll have a chance to play a lot and do what they like to do.
Teachers are tired too--the breaks really help us to charge our batteries and ready for the next leg of the school year. It's best to save less intense teaching for the tired days--they're good days to get organized, work on project work, and catch up on leftover efforts that are incomplete.
During the next few days, children will work a lot on their climate change projects, review the science we've learned so far this year, work on science slideshows, enjoy recess, read, and write stories. A good plan leading up to the vacation.
