While I'm working the treadmill teaching, the mindless tasks that sometimes go along with the job, I like to have something substantial to think about--to entertain the big ideas related to my work. What's on the reflection agenda?
A Community of Respectful Listeners
We've got to strengthen our listening in the classroom--we've become a noisy lot. That's mainly because we've been so busy, busy, busy squishing in lots of learn and other events. It's time to slow it down again and re-focus on good listening and respect by all including me.
An Organized Environment
There's so much happening in the classroom with so many students and pursuits, that the place often becomes disorganized. It's time once again to reorganize for the new learning ahead.
Collegiality
There are many changes in the works that affect the school house. Teachers are working on countless committees to contribute to those changes. I want to be aware of that committee work and supportive of it too. These changes are important to the good work that happens at our school and school system.
Personal Events
Many in my midst are involved in multiple personal events, pursuits, celebrations, and challenges. I want to be there for them and show the same support that they have shown me countless times in the past. I need to be cognizant of all this life-energy around me.
Math/Science Focus
I'm mostly focused on developing the math/science teaching at school. I am really enjoying this pursuit which is resulting in enriching, engaging learning for students. There's lots of work to do in these areas and I want to map out this work even more so that I reach the goals I envision for these efforts.
Healthy Routine
As always I'm seeking that healthy routine that maximizes my energy and ability to enjoy and contribute to good living.
