Healthy Teaching/Learning Environments

In many ways, I work in a very healthy teaching/learning environment. Though there are ways that we can individually and collectively enhance this aspect of teaching and learning.

On the positive side, our school offers students and teachers the following attributes:

• nice big playground
• plenty of recess
• lots of movement related to learning
• focus on the individual child
• mostly reasonable expectations

The one are that I can work on and the school can also focus on is reasonable expectations and balance. Finding that right balance of professional effort and personal care is essential to teaching well.
