Today students began building team by building spaghetti and marshmallow towers together. It was intriguing to observe the many ways that students approached team.
Inspired by Boaler's research and the value of strong teams, we'll revisit this assignment tomorrow. Together we'll share the strategies that helped them work well together as a team and the strategies that helped them to build strong structures.
Then I'll ask them to try again and see if they achieve a better and/or different result. We could stop after the first try, but I know that it takes more than one try to build a good tower, and I also know that it will take many tries at all kinds of teamwork events to build strong teams.
