I remain a fan of streamlined standardized tests--a few tests a year that provide a benchmark of student performance and growth.
However, the current testing pattern that lasts more than a month in the school setting truly challenges the school environment. This structure challenges daily routines, teaching/learning staffing and support, and student investment and energy.
As a culture we have to think carefully about these tests and advocate for a much simpler, more streamlined structure, one that doesn't disrupt the good learning and routines that support students well.
